"corelle rocks" ... or ... "do not microwave under the influence"

and i thought it would have splintered into a million pieces, razor sharp shards slamming into my eyes and gaping mouth. but, no! even after dropping a small corelle bowl from about 3.5" and full of falafel goodness the only thing amiss was some spilled cheese and half of a falafel ball rolling across my kitchen floor.

ok, i'm buzzed. i was at a book signing where they just happened to have alcohol. and quite cheaply i might add. after downing two mixers i was feeling, well, more to the point i was not feeling. only just after the event i walked back to my apartment and felt the munchies coming on. and, of course, when the munchies come the only thing you can do is feed them! the half-eaten falafel in the fridge called my name and i put it into the microwave.

and just as i was pulling it out half of my brain said "gee, maybe you don't want to hold on to that hot bowl!" i instictively decided it would be a good idea to get the oven mitt or something else to hold the hot bowl, but i somehow forgot the bowl was currently being held over the kitchen floor. in my haste to grab the mitt i then realized gravity was still working and the unsupported bowl crashed to the floor below.

it was one of those third-person kinds of things where you're watching an accident happen and you think, "that poor girl just dropped a bowl". my brain took a second to catch up to the fact that the "poor girl" was me. and by that time the bowl had smacked down onto the linoleum, cheese flying everywhere and bits of falafel bouncing along the floor. and then the miracle was clear...

the bowl had not a scratch on it.

how's that for a good quality bowl? completely intact even after a great fall. i have always loved my Corelle for its durability but this takes it totally to a new level. i totally -heart- Corelle now.
